Independent research has revealed this year’s instalment of Red CentreNATS generated a total expenditure stimulus of $7.25 million in the Northern Territory.
Red CentreNATS proved to be an overwhelming success with a whopping 71 per cent ($4.3 million) of stimulus being new money that would not have entered the Territory economy if the event had not taken place.
The figure is a dramatic increase on the 2020 event, which achieved a total expenditure stimulus of $3.32 million, of which $2.63 million was new money.
Summernats Co-owner Andy Lopez said the research results confirm what most people feel about Red CentreNATS.
“It’s a very special event that means a great deal to the community it serves, whether that’s the local community or the thousands of rev heads who come from all over Australia to meet in the middle of Australia every September,” he said.
“The economic and community benefits are equally important, and it’s this shared win experience that creates such loyalty and love for Red CentreNATS after only seven years.”
The research also showed Red CentreNATS 2021 was responsible for almost 20,000 visitor nights across the Territory, up from 10,500 in 2020.
Survey results revealed the event has a bright future with 86.4 per cent of entrants indicating they would return for next year’s event.
Another exciting figure is the Net Promoter Score (NPS), which was 77 (up from 66 in 2020). An NPS above 50 is deemed as ‘excellent’, and above 80 is ‘world class’.
Red CentreNATS attracts thousands of car and motorbike lovers to Central Australia each year, where entrants show off their pride and joy through a varied program that includes drags, burnouts and the famous street parade, while spectators enjoy three jam-packed days of motoring action. This year’s event drew a record 1008 entrants, with huge increases from South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland.
There were 13,400 attendances recorded across the festival.
