Funding on offer for great Territory events

In exciting news for event organisers, the latest round of the Event Funding Program (EFP), delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, opens soon.

Round 2 of the 2022-2023 EFP offers the opportunity to apply for multi-year support across the following categories: Community Event, Mass Participation Event, Event Development, Major Event and Strategic Funding.

Round 1 of the 2022-2023 EFP saw 39 events receive support across the Territory, with 25 granted multi-year agreements. Successful events included the Big Name, No Blankets NT Community Tour, Darwin Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Rhythm of the 90s’ concert, Chariots of Thunder Sprintcar Series, Katherine Junk Festival, Alice Springs Beanie Festival and the Barunga Festival.

Events are an important contributor to the Territory economy, with independent research showing just 22 events supported by NTMEC in 2021-2022 delivered a gross expenditure stimulus of $39.8 million to the Territory, plus a huge 110,194 visitor nights.

The EFP helps grow and develop the Territory’s events sector by increasing the quality and frequency of festivals and events, upskilling the local industry, and attracting interstate visitors.
