2019-2020 Annual Report online

If our 2019-2020 Annual Report had a theme, it would be ‘re-imagine, renew and rebound’.

In the months prior to the Australian Bushfires crisis and COVID-19 pandemic, we delivered our most successful Red CentreNATS to date and launched the exclusive six-month Bruce Munro: Tropical Light exhibition to entice visitors during the normally quieter Tropical Summer season.

The popular Darwin Street Art Festival returned, we welcomed the Million Dollar Fish competition to our portfolio of events, and secured elite sporting fixtures for the Territory, including Big Bash Cricket, AFL, AFLW and NRL. We became the one-stop shop for funding all community events and festivals, and even broke a Guinness World Record with the Centenary of the Great Air Race.

From revitalising our office culture and brand identity to developing innovative ways to empower the Territory’s events industry and supply chain during COVID-19, we have continually relied on resourcefulness and ingenuity to help improve the experience of event goers and make the Territory shine.

The year 2020 was one of large-scale global change as a result of COVID-19. In the midst of this worldwide pandemic, we continued our commitment to delivering a portfolio of unique Territory events, steering industry through unprecedented times, and reimagining events.

“Delivering the best results for the Territory is what drives us, and we do so by aiming high and building upon the successes of previous years,” Northern Territory Major Events Company Chairman Alistair Feehan said.

“Our 2019-2020 Annual Report reflects how we took stock to not only transform the way the business works, but to become the front door of the events sector in the Territory.

“This has empowered the Northern Territory Major Events Company to grow industry capability and capacity while enriching the community with event experiences that shine.

“We are grateful for the community support shown during these unprecedented times, support that saw the Territory become one of the first destinations to host events with spectators.

“We look forward to the next exciting stage of our journey.”
