Alice Springs Gears Up For 30 Years Of Road Transport History

Iconic road trains, classic trucks, and retro rides will be on show in Alice Springs from 28–31 August 2025 as the Festival of Transport celebrates 30 years of the National Road Transport Museum.

For three decades, the museum has been the custodian of Australia’s road transport history, celebrating both the machines and the people that keep the country moving. Located at the geographic crossroads of Australia, it is the national home of road transport heritage.

This year’s Festival of Transport is once again supported by our Event Funding Program and promises to be the most memorable yet. Program highlights include the first-ever Food Festival held at the museum on Thursday, 28 August, featuring live entertainment, food trucks and a chance to explore the Kenworth Hall, Buntine Pavilion and Ghan Museum.

On Saturday, 30 August, the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony will recognise 88 new inductees, each with at least 25 years of service to the industry.

The much-loved Truck Parade will return for the first time since 2015, with spectators able to enjoy an impressive convoy of vintage rigs, gleaming road trains, and custom builds rolling through Alice Springs on Sunday, 31 August at 9am.

The celebrations will conclude with the inaugural Truck Fest at Blatherskite Park, giving visitors the chance to get up close with the big rigs, enjoy live entertainment and connect with the people behind the wheel.

In addition to these highlights, the program also features industry events such as the Transport Women Unite Red Ball and the Transport Women Breakfast.

“We’re excited to be celebrating 30 years of the National Road Transport Museum, and 25 years of the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame. We hope to see you all there for a jam-packed weekend!” said National Road Transport Museum Advisory Committee Chairman, Frank Bilato.

The National Road Transport Museum will be open from 9am daily throughout the festival. For tickets and program information, visit roadtransporthall.com/2025-festival-of-transport
