The Northern Territory is the place to be for events and 2025 is no exception.
Tickets to the Gold Coast SUNS Northern Territory games are on sale now, with the SUNS set to take on the Western Bulldogs at TIO Stadium on Saturday, 10 May 2025. This will be followed by a clash against 2024 semi-finalists Hawthorn on Thursday, 15 May, marking the official opening of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which celebrates the contributions of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander players to the AFL.
In Central Australia, Melbourne Football Club, will return to TIO Traeger Park for the eleventh time since adopting Alice Springs as its home in 2014. The Demons will battle St Kilda in Round 12 on Sunday, 1 June 2025, further strengthening their deep ties with the Red Centre community.
Footy fans will also get the chance to meet their AFL heroes, through community engagement activities, with more details to be announced closer to the events.
The football games and music festival are supported by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC). CEO Trevor Cox said the events are the perfect excuse to book a trip to the Territory.
“Territorians love their footy, and with so many of the country’s finest AFL talent coming from the NT, it’s fantastic to see three major matches returning to the Territory.”
Interstate footy fans heading to Darwin are encouraged to extend their stay, with the Territory’s largest music festival BASSINTHEGRASS, set to take place on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at the iconic Mindil Beach. For festival ticket details visit: bassinthegrass.com.au
