Dates confirmed for 2022 Alice Springs Masters Games

The longest-running Masters Games in Australia will return from 1-8 October 2022, when the Alice Springs Masters Games (ASMG) take place in the Red Centre. Established in 1986 and affectionately known as ‘The Friendly Games’, the ASMG are a biennial multi-sports competition much-loved by the Alice Springs community and hugely popular with interstate Masters athletes.

Thousands make the pilgrimage to the Red Centre to take part, catch up with fellow athletes from around the country, and enjoy everything the region has to offer.

Northern Territory Major Events CEO Tim Watsford said the 2022 ASMG will take place slightly earlier than usual, to capitalise on the school holidays in the NT, NSW, ACT, TAS, SA and WA.

“This event has a huge interstate following,” he said. “By moving the ASMG forward in line with school holidays, we are making it easier for more interstaters to not only attend, but also stay longer. Instead of visiting alone for a couple of days to compete, they can now turn their trip into a family holiday and really explore the region.”

This will be the 18th edition of the ASMG and entries will open later this year. If you are part of a sporting organisation keen to take part in 2022, call (08) 8951 6442. To find out more about the games, click here.
