Australia’s biggest celebration of indigenous cricket will return to the Red Centre in 2023, with the Imparja Cup scheduled to take place from 19-24 February 2023.
The popular event sees Indigenous cricketers from around the Territory gather together to celebrate cricket, country and culture. The first Imparja Cup took place in 1994.
NT Cricket Head of Cricket Darren Trumer said he was looking forward to another great celebration of cricket, country and culture in the Red Centre.
“The Imparja Cup is a significant part of cricket in the Territory with a rich culture, so we are delighted to be in a position to stage the 2023 event to celebrate the 30-year milestone,” he said.
The format of the 2023 tournament will follow that of recent years, with Northern Territory teams able to nominate for the following divisions:
– Major Centres Division presented by Yeperenye Shopping Centre (T20 format)
– Men’s Community Division presented by DXC Technology (Super 8s format)
– Women’s Community Division (Super 8s format)
The Schools Cup also returns in 2023, with schools from around the Red Centre encouraged to register their interest in participating. A Community Cricket (Level 1) Coaching accreditation course will also take place.
Registration for the event is free and open to Northern Territory teams. To find out more visit www.ntcricket.com.au.
