The Northern Territory is set for a double shot of golfing action this August, with two big tournaments hitting the fairways of the Top End.
The countdown is on to the 2025 Tailor-Made Building Services NT PGA Championship, returning from 28-31 August, while the Australian Veteran Golfers Association (AVGA) 2025 Golf Championship, running from 31 August-5 September, will bring elite competition, community spirit, and a celebration of the sport to the Top End.
The NT PGA Championship is the second official event of the 2025/26 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia and is part of a record-breaking tour offering more than $7 million in prize money across 10 events.
With $200,000 up for grabs, this year’s Top End tournament is expected to attract a strong international field including players from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the USA, UK and beyond.
Renowned for its inclusive format, the NT PGA Championship is one of the few professional tournaments where men and women compete in the same field, and the recent multi-million-dollar transformation of the Palmerston Golf Course and facilities will see players tee off on a top-tier course.
“Hosting the NTPGA Championship is always a highlight for us. It’s a chance to showcase our stunning course, our fantastic facilities, and the warm hospitality Palmerston Golf & Country Club is known for,” said Palmerston Golf & Country Club General Manager, Matt Hewer. “We can’t wait to see the fairways filled with top-tier talent and our community out in force to support them.”
Off the competitive green, a packed program of community-focused activities will run throughout the week, including a junior clinic with the pros, Junior and Sponsor Pro-Am events, a Ladies clinic, and an engaging introduction to golf for Indigenous children.
This event offers a rare opportunity for fans and aspiring players to experience world-class golf live and up close, right here in the Top End. Entry is free, with tee-off starting at 7am each morning across the action-packed four days. The final two rounds of the NT PGA will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo Sports.

The Australian Veteran Golfers Association (AVGA) 2025 Golf Championship will also tee off in Darwin at the end of this month, running from Sunday, 31 August to Friday, 5 September at Darwin and Palmerston Golf Clubs.
Last hosted by the Northern Territory in 2015, the event’s triumphant return to the Top End will attract around 300 golfers aged 55 years and older from across Australia. Players will take part in a range of competitive matches, social events and tourism activities.
