Meet your NRL heroes at Mindil Beach Sunset Markets

There are now more reasons than ever to visit the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets for opening night, with the Parramatta Eels and North Queensland Cowboys players set to make a star appearance.

The iconic markets open on Thursday, 28 April 2022, and the two NRL teams will take part in a signing session with fans in the run up to their big clash on Saturday, 30 April 2022 at TIO Stadium. The game is part of the NT Government’s long-running partnership with the Parramatta Eels, and will be beamed nationwide via Foxtel and streamed online through Kayo. Game day will include the Eels Cup Under 16s Men’s and Women’s Grand Finals.

The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are a favourite with Territorians and visitors, and offer an eclectic range of foods from around the world, a variety of gifts, and the kind of sunsets you’ll never forget.

Eels co-Captain Clint Gutherson said the team can’t wait to return to Darwin.

“We mark the NT game in our calendar as soon as the NRL draw is released, it’s our favourite away game because it feels like home for us,” he said. “We’re looking forward to seeing our members and fans in Darwin again, and putting on a great show for them against the Cowboys.”

North Queensland Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said he hopes to see plenty of Top End Cowboys fans at the signing.

“We’re really excited to be coming back to Darwin. The Northern Territory is home to a large Cowboys supporter base and we always enjoy strong crowd support at TIO Stadium,” he said. “Our players are looking forward to meeting our NT-based fans at the Mindil Beach signing session.”

The signing session will take place between 5.30-6.30pm in the Community Space near the Soundshell. Fans will have the opportunity to meet their favourite players up close and get their merch signed.

You can grab your tickets to the game from the pop-up ticket booth, or try your luck in the hand-pass competition to score a double pass.
