The BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown is one of the most elusive trophies on the Supercars circuit. It has only been awarded once since its inception in 2006, to Scott McLaughlin when he won all three events at the 2019 event.
This year there is an extra incentive to win, with a stunning new trophy unveiled ahead of this weekend’s BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown.
Designed by renowned Larrakia artist Jason Lee, the trophy features boomerangs, to represent the Supercars returning to Darwin, and a shield engraved with a crocodile, the totem of the Larrakia people.
It’s very exciting to have my artwork featured on the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown trophy, and I’m proud to be able to represent the Larrakia people on a national stage.
I created the artwork especially for the Supercars – it took me a little while, but it came together pretty well.
Manufactured by Darwin firm Mick’s Ally Fab, the trophy features patterns that depict the hills and valleys around Hidden Valley on mahogany and metal. Finished in vibrant Territory colours, the trophy is a work of art.
Northern Territory Major Events Company CEO Tim Watsford said the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown trophy is guaranteed to be won by a driver this year.
Thanks to exquisite artwork and craftsmanship by Territorians, that driver will take home a beautiful piece of the Territory,” he said.
This year the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown will be awarded to the driver with the most points after three 38-lap rounds.
The BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown takes place on 15-16 August, followed by the CoreStaff Darwin SuperSprint on 22-23 August. To secure your spot trackside and access express, contactless entry on the day, buy your ticket in advance at www.darwinsupercars.com.au
