The Parramatta Eels will take on the Canberra Raiders in Darwin for their final game as the Territory’s NRL team on Saturday, 12 April, 2025. Tickets to the clash are on sale now.
The Territory Eels, as they are affectionately known, will make a momentous return to Darwin in 2025 for their final match where fans will have the opportunity to farewell the club.
The Eels, who placed 15th in the 2024 NRL Premiership, will go up against the Raiders who just missed out on the top eight. The two teams last played each other in Darwin in 2019, with the Eels defeating the Raiders 22 – 16.
Held at TIO Stadium, Marrara, the annual NRL game draws interstate fans to the Territory to not only see their team play but also explore the region from the city’s food scene to swimming in the region’s waterfalls. The game also provides an opportunity for Territorians to see elite level rugby league in the NT on home turf.
Parramatta Eels CEO Jim Sarantinos said the return to the Territory will be bittersweet.
“While we are excited to travel up to the Northern Territory next year, it will be bittersweet knowing it’s out final home game in Darwin,” said Mr Sarantinos.
“We’ll certainly be making the most of our time up there and we’re looking forward to connecting with our fans during the signing session, community visits and at the game.”
The Darwin NRL match is delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company on behalf of the Northern Territory Government.
The Company is actively exploring opportunities to secure a new NRL club partnership from 2026, aiming to continue delivering value to the NT community. The search is focused on finding a new partner who will uphold this proud legacy and foster fresh connections for the Territory’s passionate sports fans.
