Excitement is building for Parrtjima 2021, and an online preview on Monday, 8 February will provide a tantalising insight into what you can expect from this year’s incredible Festival in Light!
Each year Parrtjima showcases the world’s oldest living culture through the newest technologies, transforming the ancient outback landscape of Alice Springs Desert Park into a living, breathing canvas. This includes the lighting of two kilometres of the majestic MacDonnell Ranges, and a selection of larger-than-life light installations that share ancient stories and shine like beacons beneath the star-studded sky.
The theme for this year’s event is Future Kultcha, which focuses on intergenerational wisdom told through light, interactive workshops, art, music, films, performance and the spoken word.
Northern Territory Major Events CEO Tim Watsford said the online preview is a first for Parrtjima.
“We are absolutely thrilled to see Parrtjima return to the Red Centre this April and cannot wait to share some of the magic with viewers,” he said.
“Tune in to the free online preview to get a taste of what’s in store at Parrtjima this year, and we hope to see you in the cultural heart of Australia this April to experience this life-changing event for yourself.”
The online preview will provide a tantalising look at the beauty of this year’s installations, and introduce some of the artists and experts involved in bringing them to life. To see for yourself, simply like and follow the Parrtjima Facebook page.
