The barbeque plates are heating up with the first Territory Bar-BQ Festival set to find the NT’s BBQ Champion this October.
Tender meats will be slow cooked to perfection not only for competition but also to indulge in, when One Mile Brewery hosts the Territory Bar-BQ Festival at the Darwin Showgrounds from 5 to 6 October 2024.
Bar-BQ Festival organiser Bardy Bayram said: “We know people loved our BAR-BQ Lot Festivals in the block at One Mile Brewery Coonawarra Road, so we are excited to go bigger and bring the first-ever sanctioned ABA event to the Northern Territory. The weekend is guaranteed to be a smokin’ good time!”.
“We’re keeping the fantastic events season going past August – there’s going to be fun for the whole family – and something for all kinds of BBQ and drink lovers!”
The huge weekend of food, drinks, and music will celebrate Oktoberfest and include a headline performance from Australian rock ‘n’ roll icon Spiderbait. The event will also feature local DJs and bands to keep the music rolling on. Patrons are encouraged to dress up in their best Oktoberfest outfits.
Spiderbait bass guitarist and vocalist Janet English said nothing beats seeing live music.
“I’m really excited to bring everyone along with us and leave them with a big smile. Feels like we’re throwing a party in the machinery shed on the farm like the old days. We’re super pumped and can’t wait to see y’all out there. Come celebrate Black Betty with us!”
The set-to-be hotly contested barbeque competition is part of the sanctioned Australian Barbeque Alliance (ABA) and will see official ABA personnel judging the cooking showdown and ultimately crown the NT BBQ Champion.
Expression of interest for vendors, food stalls, retailers and barbeque competition participants is currently open. To purchase tickets, which start at $40, or to find out more information head to https://territorybarbqfestival.com.au/
