The Northern Territory is the place to be for events and next year is no exception. Tickets to the Gold Coast SUNS Northern Territory games are on sale now, with the SUNS set to take on North Melbourne at TIO Stadium on Saturday, 11 May 2024 followed by a clash against Geelong on Thursday, 16 May as part of the celebrated Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
As an extra incentive for footy fans considering travelling to the Top End to support their teams, the Territory’s largest music festival, BASSINTHEGRASS, will take place on Saturday, 18 May 2024 at Darwin’s iconic Mindil Beach. American superstar Macklemore is headlining.
AFL tickets start from just $25 for an adult, $15 concession and $10 for children aged three to 14. Final Release BASSINTHEGRASS tickets are also on sale now, for $149, while children aged 13 and under can attend for free.
The football games and music festival are supported by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC). CEO Suzana Bishop said the events are the perfect excuse to book a trip to the Territory.
“Interstate footy fans can travel to the Territory to support their team, then stay on to explore the region and enjoy our unique tourism experiences,” Mrs Bishop said.
“We’ve got World Heritage sites, like Kakadu, stunning waterholes, amazing wildlife encounters, a strong Indigenous culture and plenty more.”
The footy will also make its way to Central Australia, with Melbourne Football Club taking on Fremantle at TIO Traeger Park in Alice Springs on Sunday, 2 June 2024, building on their strong relationship with the Red Centre community.
Independent research shows the Territory’s three 2023 AFL matches attracted more than 6,500 interstate footy fans, while almost a third of BASSINTHEGRASS’s 13,829 attendees were from interstate.
