Expressions of Interest open for Country to Couture 2021

Held alongside the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) each year since 2016, Country to Couture is set to return to Darwin on Larrakia country on Wednesday, 4 August 2021.

Country to Couture sees Nations art, textiles and fashion collide in a vibrant showcase of design and wearable art, and Expressions of Interest are open for designers to be involved.

Country to Couture is a contemporary way of cultural storytelling, and sharing knowledge. The high-energy runway presents innovative collections from Aboriginal designers and artists across Australia, as well as unique collaborations between indigenous communities and well-known Australian labels. It is supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company.

Organisers are looking to showcase new and innovative fashion and textile collections from First Nations artists and designers, and/or collaborations where indigenous agency and ethical practice are at the forefront.

Successful applicants will be part of a runway showcase presented to audiences at the Darwin Convention Centre, on 4 August 2021. They will be featured in a digital broadcast and be offered the opportunity to be part of DAAF’s physical and digital retail platforms.

Applications close on 30 April 2021. Successful applicants will be notified by 15 May 2021. Apply here or email c2c@daaf.com.au for more information.
