New Event Funding Grants Launched

Festivals and events are vital platforms to showcase the strong cultural identity of the Northern Territory and now they are on track to get even better.

Applications are now open for NTMEC’s latest round of Event Funding Grants funded by the Territory Labor Government.

In an exciting development this year’s program will include two new grant categories to build on this year’s booming event season – Mass Participation Event and Major Event.

Eligibility for the Mass Participation Event grant category requires events to attract 300 or more visitors who stay in paid accommodation for at least three nights. The Mass Participation Event category provides funding up to $40,000 for events held between October and March, and up to $30,000 for events between April and September.

Meanwhile, the Major Event grant category will support events that offer the Territory an exclusive or unique position, deliver significant visitor economy impacts and reach large audiences through broadcast opportunities. Funding through this category will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

This year will also see a return of the Event Development and Community Event grant categories.

The Event Development category provides funding up to $100,000 to support events that engage new audiences, attract interstate visitation and take steps to connect audiences to tourism products and local businesses.

The Community Event grant category will provide funding of up to $30,000 to support events that make the Territory a better place to live, celebrate our culture and identity, and help create an exciting events calendar.

Applications open on 12 July and close on 9 August this year.
