Great news for event organisers in the Northern Territory. A new round of the Northern Territory Government’s Event Funding Program (EFP) will open on Monday, 3 February 2025.
Round 2 of the 2024-25 EFP, administered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC), is designed to support events that drive economic growth, attracts visitors to the NT, showcase the Territory’s unique offerings, support local businesses, and contribute to a vibrant year-round events calendar.
This round of the EFP will introduce a new tiered structure, providing better alignment with the program’s key priorities. Event organisers can submit applications under three tiers:
· Flagship – events are strong economic drivers for the Territory
· Signature – events focused on developing capability
· Community – events that celebrate the uniqueness of the Territory.
The EFP continues to fund a diverse range of events, including beloved cultural and community events, major sporting events, and key cultural and music celebrations.
Event Funding Manager Alison Wheeler said the Event Funding Program is designed to support a range of events and festivals across the Northern Territory.
“This new structure will enable us to support applicants to grow and develop their event,” she said.
“The EFP supports some of the most exciting and iconic events in the country and we are so proud to enable them to deliver these memorable events. It is wonderful to see the events we support attract people to the region while enhancing the liveability for Territorians.
“Event organisers are encouraged to head along to an information session and apply in this new round.”
In Round 1 of the 2024–25 Event Funding Program, 14 events were supported, including the inaugural Darwin Comedy Festival, a Darwin Symphony Orchestra regional tour, and the NT Writers Festival, to be held in Alice Springs this year.
An information session will take place in Darwin from 5 – 6pm on Tuesday, 28 January with the option for those not in Darwin to attend virtually. To assist event organisers, a representative from the Community Benefit Fund will be at the session to explain their guidelines. An NTMEC representative will be in Alice Springs in early February (dates to be confirmed) if organisers wish to arrange a face-to-face meeting. To register, including virtually, or for more details, please email: ntmec.grants@nt.gov.au
